2018 New Year Member Newsletter

Dear TNZ Members,

Happy New Year to you all. We hope you, your families and club-members all managed to have a good break during Christmas and New Year and are ready for a big year ahead in Taekwondo. While we are still working through some challenges, we are pleased to give you this New Year Update and take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for a great 2018.

Calendar of Events

Our Interim District Boards and TNZ Co-ordinators have been busy finalizing the 2018 Calendar of Events which is now available for members on our website at: http://taekwondonz.com/event-list/2018-calendar-of-events/

Please also keep an eye on the events page of the TNZ website for activities in your districts as we continue to run a number of local events around the Districts. We look forward to your club’s participation. Please also don’t hesitate to contact any of our Interim District Board members or TNZ Co-ordinators with any questions or suggestions on District activities.

WT Investigation & 2018 National Championships

The WT Investigation into the TNZ Executive Board dispute is still ongoing. However we remain committed to ensuring the organization continues to deliver services to members during this time. It is important to note that due to the investigation a number of our administration systems are currently on hold which does limit some of our functions presently.

With this in mind, and after consultation with our Interim District Boards and TNZ Co-ordinators, the decision has been made to push the TNZ National Championships back to September as our ability to run a meaningful and safe event for members while the investigation is in progress has understandably been affected.

Once the investigation has been concluded to the satisfaction of all parties we will be in a position to address refunds for those who have already paid entry fees for the National Championships that were planned for next month. We again sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and your members. Please be rest assured that we remain committed to achieving the best possible outcome for the overall good of the members and our beloved sport here in New Zealand. In the meantime, we encourage you to get involved in the local TNZ District events planned for this year.

2018 Youth Olympic Long-list Application Process

Our Interim District Boards will shortly advise interested members of the above process for eligible athletes and officials wishing to register for the 2018 Youth Olympic Long-list. These will be due before the end of January so please be ready to respond quickly. We expect to have details out early next week via our District Board officials.

Please don’t hesitate to email me or any of our officials with any questions.

Kind Regards

Matt Ransom
