St Kentigern Halberg Junior Disability Sports Day Auckland 22nd November
Representatives from TNZ’s Auckland Club recently participated in the St Kentigern Halberg Junior Disability Sports Day, which was held on Wednesday 22nd November, at St Kentigern School in Auckland.
Volunteers including Master Matt Ransom (TNZ Secretary General) and Brice Nathan-Welch (Vice-Chair TNZ Auckland Interim District Board) along with members of the Auckland club ranging in ranks from yellow belt through to black belt ran an hour and a half session for 28 enthusiastic Year 1 – 6 aged participants as part of a multi-sports day. The session focused on warm-ups and basic fundamental Taekwondo skills.
Halberg Disability Sport Foundation is planning to organise more events like this for physically and vision impaired young people around the regions and there will be an opportunity for local clubs to also get involved. It is our intention to continue being a part of these events in order to further promote Taekwondo as an inclusive sport and get more participants involved in the opportunities our organisation and sport can offer.
Official photos from the Auckland Sports Day can be found on the Halberg Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/pg/Halberg-Disability-Sport-Foundation-111893415571312/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1551286721631967
We will keep clubs updated on future Disability Sports days via our member newsletters and District Boards.
We’d like to thank Halberg Disability Sport Foundation for inviting us to attend and including our Sport at this Event. Also, a big thanks to all the Auckland Club volunteers who participated and the parents and caregivers of the participants who also joined in on what was a fun day for all. Well done to all participants!
